On Thursday 3 June, ballet history was made as eight leading British ballet companies shared the same stage for the very first time to raise funds for their art and for their nominated community dance companies, in one sensational evening of dance filmed at the stunning Royal Albert Hall.

Featuring a diverse range of performances from Ballet Black, Birmingham Royal Ballet, English National Ballet, New Adventures, Northern Ballet, Rambert, Scottish Ballet and The Royal Ballet the evening was presented by Dame Darcey Bussell DBE and television presenter, musical theatre actor and Strictly Come Dancing winner, Ore Oduba.

The evening was accompanied by the Royal Ballet Sinfonia, conducted by Paul Murphy, Principal Conductor, Birmingham Royal Ballet. The Gala’s Finale’ was specially choreographed by Rambert dancers Simone Damberg Würtz and Daniel Davidson in a spectacular new work uniting all of the participating companies together on film.  Proceeds from both the gala and the streaming will benefit a total of 19 dance-related charities.

Darcey Bussell comments: “I am so proud that for the very first time, dancers from all eight of Britain’s main ballet companies came together to perform on the one stage. It was an inspiring, diverse and very emotional evening. I really hope you enjoy the streamed performance and thank you for your support.”
