Published
in 2005, The Alternative Music for Grades 1-5 is a celebration of the
ballet and musical traditions associated with the countries of the five
founder members of the Royal Academy of Dance: Italy, France, Denmark,
England and Russia.
Volume 1, Grades 1-3 celebrates the ballet traditions of Italy, France and Denmark in a
remarkable musical journey which brings the world of the theatre into
the classroom. Inspiring and fun to dance to, this set of music also
provides an education in the dance repertoire and its music.
Grade 1 includes music by Verdi, Marenco, Arditi, Boccherini, with extracts from La Favorita, William Tell, Masaniello, I Vespri Siciliani, Donizetti Variations and La Gioconda.
Grade 2 includes music by Delibes, Offenbach, Saint-Saëns and Auber with extracts from works such as Coppélia, Giselle, The Tales of Hoffman, La Source and Gaîté Parisienne.
Grade 3 includes music by Helsted, Paulli, Løvenskjold, Lumbye, Hartmann and Gade, from works such as Napoli, La Sylphide, Etudes, Konservatoriet and Flower Festival at Genzano.
